Q:
What's inside the LRS?
A:
The LRS contains human identical, plant deprived Sphingolipids which occur naturally in the stratum corneum of human skin (at levels up to 49%). When depleted of this "lipid barrier", the skin cannot maintain optimum moisture levels necessary for healthy skin. The LRS replaces lost lipids, helping to minimize TEWL (Trans Epidermal Water Loss), yet it goes a step further.

In addition, the LRS contains Vitamin E Linoleate, an anti-oxidant used to "trap" free radicals which can impair and evem destroy sensitive skin cell components.

The LRS also contains Peroxidized Corn Oil, a potent anti-inflammatory and analgesic agent proven in clinical studies to reduce erythema after 48 hours of use.

Q:
Why and when do you need to replenish lost lipids in the skin?
A:
As the skin ages, its natural ability to maintain an adequate lipid barrier diminishes. This is further exacerbated by exposure to aggressive elements such as sun and wind, soaps and detergents, and other elements.

With the advent of Laser Resurfacing Treatments, Abrasive Facial Scrubs, Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs) and the clinical use of chemicals for Facial Peels, the need to replenish the lost lipid barrier now becomes critical.

Q:
Why is the LRS packaged in a soft gel ampoule?
A:
For several important reasons:
  • It provides a precise dose everytime.
  • Its hermetically sealed barrier protect delicate active ingredients from degradation due to light and oxidation.
  • The soft gel ampoule maintains a high product purity and potency.
  • No irritating preservatives needed.
  • The soft gel ampoule is tamper evident and 100% biodegradable.
  • The soft gel ampoule provides for convenience of product portability.

Q:
What type of testing was performed on the LRS to ensure its safety?
A:
The LRS was dermatologists tested on human subjects using occlusive RIPT (Repeated Insult Patch Test). This study concluded that the LRS "did not induce irritation nor show any evidence of induced allergic contact dermatitis." Copies of this study are available upon request.

In addition, Custom Dermaceuticals has been working closely with dermatologists and plastic surgeons in the field to assess the product's performance in the "real world". The results have been extremely favorable to date.
